WaterproofWoof dog coat

It’s been getting colder out there lately. Sometimes I think twice about going out because the temperature is just freezing. I hate having to leave my dog home along when I do my errands.

My dog hates staying indoors all the time. So I got a dog coat that will keep him warm on our trips outdoors. At least I’m sure he’s warm despite the cold weather. He looks so cute in his new coat, too.

dog sofaDogs are like humans in more ways than one. They crave affection and attention. They like to be hugged. They also want to be comfortable, especially when they are just in the mood to snuggle and sleep.

It won’t hurt to pamper them a little with a dog sofa made especially for them. This way our canine friends will feel very much loved and cared for.

What If You Couldn’t Reach Your Food Bowl?

dog eatingMany dog breeds have short legs. The Welsh Corgi, for example, stands only 10 to 12 inches. The short legs don’t hold the Corgi back, however, because Corgis can run and jump just as good as any other breed. Corgis were originally bred to herd sheep, and their short legs protect them from suffering kicks from an angry flock.

Small dogs with short legs are also adept at hunting small, burrowing animals like rabbits and moles. Short legs allow many breeds of dogs to traverse narrow pathways without sacrificing their strength. In the Dark and Middle Ages dogs with short legs were kept because of their ability to penetrate thick bushes during hunting expeditions.

Dachshunds were used by German foresters to track a variety of varmints including foxes, badgers, and wild boar. Beagles are also known to have short legs. For these dogs, the short limbs are often caused by poor breeding.

Though short-legged dogs can usually run and jump well, they shouldn’t be expected to keep up with taller, larger dogs, or running humans. Short legs can also affect a dog’s swimming ability. The Basset hound, for example, has such a long, heavy body that it should never be expected to swim.

Many times a short-legged breed will have trouble reaching their food and water bowls. This obstacle can be easily resolved with an elevated food bowl. These types of dogs may also find getting up steep stairs achallenge, and owners may want to try using ramps for elderly dogs.

When you are in a car, there are many precautions that must be taken to avoid accidents.  Just like when you are on a cellular phone, having a dog in the car increases you risks because it takes your focus away from the road.  When you look away, things can jump out in front you that require all your reflexes to be aware.

Having a dog harness that you can hook up to a car seat can reduce your chances of getting into a car accident.  Be safe by being prepared for all sorts of things that life throws your way.

dog-gear.jpgWe are so used to having dogs in our lives that we don’t realize that it wasn’t always the case.  Dogs, for the majority of their existence have actually been wild creatures.  We can trace the evolution of the first dog to one hundred thousand years ago when dogs evolved from their wolf predecessors.  For the next 85 thousand years, dogs roamed the eastern hemisphere wild.

Then human beings found that dogs could be trained and this made them useful to our survival.  We could not throw a dog harness on these animals, as with later large domesticated animals, but they were quick and willing to fetch.  For the past fifteen thousand years, we have been enmeshed in a symbiotic relationship with dogs.

luxury dog bed

Like people, some dogs cannot be comfortable on a stack of worn down pillows or a hard, cold floor with sheets.  Canines require the a reasonable amount of sleep and rest like humans, so purchasing a dog bed for your furry little friend would be a great idea; after all, you wouldn’t want to sleep on a cold floor yourself, would you?

There are lots of fun choices in a luxury dog bed.  To some, it may seem a bit far-fetched to buy a dog a luxury bed, but why wouldn’t you do that for your best friend?
